Looking on the bright side is my specialty, especially when the weather turns grim. While others shiver in the cold and rain, I thrive and bring sunshine to your glass, proving that warmth is a state of mind.

Why you'll like me
Why you'll like me
I'm resilient
I'm tropical
I'm sustainable
You will love me because I'm the ultimate survivor who doesn't sacrifice flavor for resilience. When traditional vines are battling rot and demanding chemicals, I'm just hanging out, soaking up the sun, and producing incredible sugar levels. I bring a burst of tropical sunshine to places where you would usually only expect rain. I make winemaking look easy.

Why maybe not
I'm sugary
I'm boozy
I'm obscure
My enthusiasm can sometimes be too much. Since I accumulate sugar so fast, I can accidentally turn into a boozy heavyweight if you aren't paying attention. Sometimes I lack the razor-sharp acidity of my famous cousin Riesling, making me feel a bit flabby if I get too ripe. Plus, wine snobs sometimes turn their noses up at hybrids.

When drinking, notice this
Pineapple notes
High alcohol
Nutty finish
Give me a swirl and you will likely find an explosion of exotic fruits like pineapple, banana, and melon. I don't smell like a typical cool-climate wine. My body is often rich and generous, sometimes hiding a touch of sweetness or a distinct hazelnut finish. It is a basket of fruit regardless of where I was grown.

MY LIFE STORIES
The Science Project
The Science Project
The Science Project
I was born in 1975 at the viticulture institute in Freiburg, Germany. My parents were basically science experiments themselves, mixing Merzling and a complex partner named Geisenheim 6493. The goal was to create a super-soldier capable of resisting disease without needing constant chemical showers. They wanted the elegance of Riesling and Pinot Gris but with the armor of a tank. I think they succeeded quite nicely, creating a soul that is part artistic elegance and part biological fortress.

The Northern Star
While the French aristocrats stick to their chateaus, I became the hero of the north. You will find me happily growing in Denmark, Sweden, England, and Poland. I ripen so early that I beat the autumn frosts that kill off other vines. I have single-handedly proven that you can make quality wine closer to the Arctic Circle than the Equator. I'm the pioneer of the new viticultural frontier, going where no grape has gone before.

I'm the poster child for the PIWI movement, which is just a fancy German acronym for fungus-resistant varieties. Because I have extremely thick skin and a robust immune system, I don't need to be sprayed with copper or sulfur constantly. This makes me an environmental hero and a dream for organic farmers. I prove that you can be tough as nails and still taste like a tropical vacation. I'm the future of sustainable drinking.

REGIONS I LEAD

Lubuskie
Believe it or not, this area has been fermenting grapes since medieval times. While vodka usually steals the spotlight here, locals are reclaiming their heritage with crisp whites and surprisingly elegant reds that defy latitude expectations.

Dolny Śląsk
Southwestern Poland hides this gem which is arguably the beating heart of the modern Polish wine renaissance. It features extinct volcanoes, old monasteries, and a climate that actually likes ripening fruit, making it a serious contender.

Baden
Stretching endlessly along the French border, this is where Germans go when they want to pretend they are in the Mediterranean. It is the warmest spot in the country and Pinot Noir absolutely loves it here.

Hageland
Forget beer for a second because this patch of Belgian countryside has been pumping out vino since the Middle Ages. It is basically the godfather of the modern Belgian wine renaissance and proudly wears its rust-colored soil on its sleeve.

Germany usually gets typed as a fridge, but this extinct volcano acts like a massive solar panel. It gets incredibly toasty here, allowing red wines to ripen so well you might think you teleported to France.

Denmark is officially cooler than just minimalist furniture. These bubbles prove that a shivering climate creates electric acidity and crisp fruit flavors that rival more famous southern neighbors. It is essentially bottling a refreshing Scandinavian breeze.
