REVIEW

Deep gold color. Very pleasant, expressive nose with rich nettle and a slight hint of coffee cake and canned pineapple in the background. Hint of nettle on the palate which is pleasant and full, but could use more complexity. Mid-to-high acidity, dry. Aftertaste offers en echo of the nettle. Very nice though.

THE WINERY

Known as "Mr. Sauvignon," fourth-generation winemaker Walter Skoff transformed a modest 2-hectare plot into a 60-hectare Gamlitz empire. He is essentially the final boss of Styrian white wine, making sure every vine in Southern Styria knows who’s in charge. You don’t just drink his wine; you pay respects to a local legend.

THE WINE

This Sauvignon had a long-term residency in massive 3,000-liter oak barrels. It draws its mineral energy from limestone and sandstone soils.
