My mother is the noble Chenin Blanc, giving me my zest, while my father is the prolific Gouais Blanc, the Casanova of the vineyard. This parentage makes me a half-sibling to prestigious grapes like Chardonnay and Gamay, though I chose a humbler path. I didn't chase the limelight of Burgundy or the Loire. Instead, I set up camp in the southwest to do the heavy lifting for the local farmers.
