REVIEW

Medium straw color. Nose is quite expressive and feels delicious with canned tangerines, lime, and white flower - but that’s early on. Palate offers squeezed lemon and a hint of canned tangerines. The aftertaste moves into a bitter grapefruit with salt and some lingering acidity. With some air, the fruity aromas take a backseat and sea spray takes the reins on the nose, with the grapefruit taking over the palate. The bitterness isn’t unpleasant, though - sure, you've got to be ready to accept it, but it feels like it’s a valid part of the wine. Dry, higher acidity that’s pretty persistent. Fun wine with plenty to explore, but probably not for everyone.

THE WINERY

Familia Torres is an established leader in the Spanish wine world, but their Torre Penelas project in Galicia is where they focus on something more boutique. Located in the lush and misty Rías Baixas region, this historic 14th-century granite manor serves as a dedicated innovation hub for the Albariño grape. It is a place where deep family heritage meets modern coastal viticulture. The focus is on capturing the pure energy of the Atlantic and the unique mineral character of the local granite soils.

THE WINE

Pazo das Bruxas is a tribute to Galician folklore and the "meigas," or local witches, who famously partied in the woods. Legend says their mystical dances fueled the vines with a life force that still flows through the Albariño grapes today. To keep the process clean, the winemakers skip the oak and stick to stainless steel tanks. This preserves the pure Atlantic energy and the grape's natural personality.
