My father, Cabernet Sauvignon, gave me class and structure, while my mother, Alicante Bouschet, gave me my most striking feature: red flesh. Most grapes are clear on the inside, but I bleed color through and through. It was a time of scientific ambition, and I was engineered to survive harsh winters while delivering the depth of a noble Bordeaux variety.
